Our Curriculum

18 months-young 3's: Each week we will tell a story from God's book, the Bible. We'll sing songs and enjoy activities in play centers that will help your child learn about God's love. Each time we meet, we'll be sending a Bible story card home. We encourage you to collect these story cards in a binder and enjoy them over and over. It is our prayer that together we can help your precious little one come to know God more and experience the love of Jesus through these beautifully illustrated stories from the Bible. We've also included suggestions on each card for thing you can do at home to reinforce the wonderful truths your child is learning.

3.5's-5's/K: Children learn to recognize that the Bible is God’s Word and that God loves and cares for us in three easy steps: Play, Listen, Talk. Play includes: Art Center, Dramatic Play Center, Game Center and Block Center. Listen includes: Come Together, Song, Prayer, Bible Verse, Puppet Time and Bible Story. Talk includes: Activity Page and Bible Story Game. Each lesson will actively engage every child in the Bible story, and lead them to experience God’s love and know Jesus.

Grades 1-4: We believe that spiritual development can & should begin from the earliest age with parents as the primary nurturers of their children’s faith. Our new Sunday curriculum, Tru, provides resources to help parents build confidence & become more involved in the spiritual development of their kids. HomeFront Monthly provides opportunities for families to come together & experience storytelling, God’s Word, new family traditions, fun games, recipes, family blessings, prayer & more! HomeFront weekly is designed to equip parents & help families be in God’s Word together. To view or download HomeFront, click here. HomeFront monthly is also available as a FREE app in the App Store or Android Market. Try it out today!

On Wednesdays, we are studying the H.E.R.O.E.S. (His Excellent, Righteous, Obedient, Eternal Servants) of the Bible. Our time together will include worship, a lesson, craft and games. We'll finish our evening with calming and quiet activities, including reading C.S.Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

2011-12 Worship & Program Schedule

Let's Worship All Together at 9:00 AM (Grades 1 & older)

One of the best ways children grow to spiritual maturity is worshipping with the whole congregation. We're making extra efforts to make the 9:00 AM worship service a place where Grades 1-12 feel like they belong. We invite all families to worship together at 9:00 AM (kids sit with families or with leaders). Before the sermon, Grades 1-4 will be dismissed for "Kids Breakout," an age-appropriate worship and lesson time. Birth-5's/K will meet the full hour in their regular rooms. Parents, please help us transition to our next hour of Sunday School by picking up your child(ren) immediately following the 9:00 AM service. For Kid's Breakout, please use the outside doors of rooms 10 (grades 3 & 4) and 11 (grades 1 & 2). A leader will be at the door with a clipboard for you to sign-out your child.

A Full Hour of Program for Everyone at 10:45 AM

At 10:45 AM, there are Sunday morning programs for birth-12th grade and adult TLCs, as well as a second worship service. Please note: the main hour of Sunday School for Grades 1-4 is now at 10:45 AM.

Great New Adult Opportunities
We invite you to TLCs - "Truth to Life Communities" - for adults to connect over applying the Word to their lives. Come as you can...any or all weeks!

Sunday from 10:45-11:55 AM, these TLC opportunities are available:
  • TLC for parents with young children through pre-teen with lead hosts Jeff and Lisa Vande Wege
  • TLC for parents with teens through empty nest with lead hosts Paul and Kathy Dugan
  • TLC for adults of all ages/stages with lead hosts Don and Lassie Colebourn and Keith and Zoe Schirmer

Wednesday from 7:00-8:30 PM, this TLC opportunity is available:
  • TLC for adults of all ages/stages with lead hosts Pastors Morgan Murray and Paul Dugan
New Midweek Program for Grades 1-4 and Childcare for 5's & under
While parents are participating in a Truth to Life Community, Grades 1-4 will be learning, growing and having fun! We are studing H.E.R.O.E.S. (His Excellent, Righteous, Obedient, Eternal Servants) of the Bible. Our worship and lesson time will be from 7:00-8:00 PM every week. We understand that our 8:30 PM finishing time is close to bedtime for many of our adventurers. In order to return them to you "bed-ready," we will be participating in calming activities from 8:00-8:30 PM. Our plan is to read C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. We will also have coloring pages and other quiet activities available. Childcare for children 5 & under is in room 29.

The Best Way to Take Full Advantage of This New Format

9:00 AM Sunday: The whole family (grades 1 & older) attend child & youth-friendly worship together. Then stick around for some fellowship time.
10:45 AM Sunday: Adults attend a TLC (or worship), children go to program
OR
7:00 PM Wednesday:
Adults attend a TLC, with corresponding childcare for birth-5's/K or Adventure Club for Grades 1-4

Child Health & Safety Policy

We take seriously our responsibility to the children on our campus and strive to provide a safe and healthy environment for each child in our care.  Our child safety policy mandates the completion of a detailed application, background check and sexual abuse awareness training for all volunteers and paid staff.  Children are never alone with only one adult.  All staff and volunteers are trained to work with children.

Please help us keep our children safe and healthy by:
  • Keeping your child home if he or she shows any symptoms of illness, including fever, persistent cough, runny nose, diarrhea, etc.  We request that children are symptom-free for 24 hours before attending our programs.
  • Having your child finish all food/drinks and disinfect hands before entering our rooms.  This helps protect against the spread of germs and allergens.
  • Communicating any specials needs that your child may have.
Check-in/Out Procedures
  • On all attendance sheets, parents/guardians write their initials next to the time they check their child in and out of Sunday school and other Children's Ministries programs. If possible, please have the same parent/guardian check the child in and out of their room.
  • For Grades 1-4, please utilize the outside classroom doors when picking-up your child(ren). A staff or volunteer will be at the door with a clipboard for you to sign-out your child.
  • In the 3.5-5's/K room, nametags with a number system are utilized. Parents/guardians fill out the sticky portion of the nametag with their child’s first/last name and parent/guardian location. Parents/guardians keep the other side of the nametag (the waxy backing) and present it when they pick-up their child. The same number is on both portions of the nametag and must be matched up by a staff or volunteer before the child is released from our care.
  • In the nursery & toddler rooms, pagers are utilized. Parents/guardians check-out a pager by writing the pager number on the attendance sheet. Parents/guardians keep the pager throughout the duration of the service or event and will be paged, if necessary. The pager must be returned and matched up by a staff or volunteer before the child is released from our care.

Infant Baptism

infant baptism

The Word of God Made Visible

Baptism is a visible sign of God's grace and covenant in Christ that is offered to all people and transcends all barriers, including age.  The baptism of infants witnesses to the truth that God's love claims people before they are able to respond in faith. Through baptism, God strengthens our faith and demonstrates a reality that we cannot yet see: God's salvation extended to us through Jesus' death and resurrection.  Through the sacrament of baptism, we receive the guarantee or seal that we belong to God's family and that all God's promises belong to us personally.  Please note: The Presbyterian Book of Order states that ordinarily the parent(s) shall be an active member of the congregation (W-2.3104).
