Weekday Preschool Substitute Teachers

Student Ministry Summer Interns

We are looking for four summer interns - two to work with middle school ministries and two for high school ministry from early June, 2012 to mid-August, 2012. This is an excellent opportunity to serve Jesus, impact students, and develop your gifts in student ministry.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The purpose of this position is to develop emerging Christian leaders for Kingdom impact in Walnut Creek today while preparing them for ministry leadership in the future. Interns complete a 10-week position during the summer season in either Middle School or High School Ministry departments. Interns experience a variety of roles that include teaching, student ministry programs and trips, administration, relational work with students, and program planning.

REPORTS TO:
Middle School Interns report to Director of Children and Student Ministries, Scott Parr.
High School Interns report to Director of High School Ministry, Brendan Cheney.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
Requirements:
  1. Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ
  2. 1 year of college completed or age equivalent (2 years completed is preferred for interns working with high school students)
  3. Interest in pursuing Christian leadership as a professional career is a bonus but not a must.
  4. Previous Student Ministry volunteer or student leadership experience
  5. Teachable spirit and a desire to learn
  6. A passion for relationships with high school or middle school students
  7. A servant leader’s heart
  8. Having your own car is not mandatory but is extremely useful.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Help plan, organize, and execute weekly student ministry programs, events, and trips.
  2. Occasionally teach during a Sunday or midweek program
  3. Regular student contact time (one-on-one, small group, recreational, phone, email)
  4. Participation in weekly staff meetings
  5. Learning through study, hands-on experience, and reflecting with your team
  6. Attend weekly worship service
  7. Other duties assigned by the appropriate Director
COMPENSATION
  • $2,000 stipend for the ten week internship
  • Free host home stay available for non-local interns.
  • Reimbursement for relational contact with students and leaders
  • We meet the Field Ed. requirements for many M.Div. programs
  • Benefits or insurance are not given
