MOPS stands for Mothers of PreSchoolers

MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be!  MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

When are registration forms due?

MOPS and MOPPETS have limited space. Thus, we accept registrations on a first-come, first-served basis.  Once MOPPETS is full, we may accept a limited number of additional moms.  These moms will need to arrange for their own childcare.

Will I receive a confirmation that my registration information has been received?

Yes!  You will receive a postcard or an email notification confirming your MOPS membership and your child(ren)’s place in MOPPETS.

Each mom is assigned to a discussion group.  In early September, your discussion group leader will contact you and answer any additional questions that you may have.

What costs are involved in MOPS and MOPPETS?

$85 per semester covers dues to MOPS International and a portion of the cost of food for meetings, snacks for MOPPETS, giveaway gifts, etc.  Scholarships are available.

PLUS…all moms will spend one hour per semester in a MOPPETS room helping take care of our little ones.  This hour of service is for all MOPS moms, whether or not your child participates in MOPPETS.

What will my child do in MOPPETS?

Children under 1 year receive loving care and attention.

Children ages 1-5 participate in developmentally appropriate creative activities, free-play, snack and a faith-based lesson appropriate to age.

Each class is staffed by a childcare team (lead teacher and assistants).  All childcare staff are appropriately screened and trained for service in this area.

How will I support the MOPS community?

From time to time, the women in your discussion group will be asked to provide the food and beverages for our morning meal. Additional volunteer opportunities will be presented throughout the year.

Do I have to attend Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church to come to MOPS?

No, MOPS is for all moms in our community, regardless of church affiliation.

Can I have my newborn with me at the MOPS meeting?

Yes, you may care for and feed your newborn in the MOPS meeting. We ask that you take your baby to the nursery by the time he or she is 3-4 months old.

What if my child gets upset during MOPPETS?

A childcare staff will contact you.
