Childcare Fact Sheet
All volunteers and paid caregivers are trained to work with children. Additionally, paid caregivers undergo an interview, reference check, application, background check/fingerprinting and CPR certification as part of the hiring process. WCPres has adopted the “Two-Adult Rule” which means that no Adult shall be left alone with a children or group of children absent special circumstances or for extremely limited amounts of time, and requires a reasonable ration of Adult Workers to be maintained in each situation involving the supervision of children.
Please complete the Child Participation Form and bring it with you to childcare. If you have completed this form for another program at WCPres, you do NOT need to fill it out again.
Illness and Medication
Please only bring healthy children to childcare. We request that children are symptom-free for 24 hours before attending our programs or events. If a child shows any symptoms of illness, the parent/guardian will be contacted as soon as reasonably possible to request that the child be picked up immediately. Medication will only be administered by a parent and should be kept with the parent at all times.
Parents/guardians sign children in and out of programs and events (up to ten minutes beforehand) by initialing the attendance sheet and indicating the time of drop-off and pick-up. Parents/guardians fill out a nametag for their child, indicate any important information about their child on the attendance sheet (allergies, toilet-training, etc.) and take a pager (if applicable) to be contacted as requested or needed (continued crying, illness, injury, etc.). One pager may be used for multiple children in multiple rooms.
Unless otherwise stated, children will only receive a simple snack during childcare (e.g. Cheerios, Goldfish or Ritz crackers and water). WCPres’ children’s rooms are nut-free, including any food provided by WCPres or brought in by a parent. If you would like to provide an additional snack for your child(ren), please make sure it does NOT contain any nuts.
All bottles, cups, diaper bags, coats, etc. should be clearly labeled with the child’s name. Cups will be provided during snack time for children who do not bring one. Please use/pack disposable diapers, if applicable, and provide a change of clothes (including socks) in case of an “accident” (this is helpful even for children who are already toilet-trained).
Please dress your child in appropriate clothing and shoes for play.
We want to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for every child. Please let us know if you child has unique abilities or challenges so we can work together to best support your child.
